This Porsche 964-era 911 is a road-legal Cup tribute meticulously rebuilt to professional race specifications. Originally a 1989 European-spec Carrera 4, which spent a while in SA and then a period as a race car in Angola and Namibia before returning to SA where an enthusiast commissioned a no expense spared ground-up restoration in the early 2000s.
The mechanical overhaul is extensive, featuring a 3.8-litre flat-six engine with forged pistons, Carrillo rods, and RSR-profile cams. It utilizes a Swiss-rebuilt G50 manual gearbox, a new ECU with six fuel injected individual throttle bodies. For handling, it is equipped with H&R adjustable club sport suspension and a Porsche 993 Turbo/GT3 factory suspension and “big brake” kit. Recent recommissioning by specialists has ensured it is mechanically sound after minimal use—covering less than 2,000km in two decades.
Visually, the car is finished in Maritime Blue with period decals and a large rear spoiler. Weight-saving measures include fibreglass panels and Lexan windows. The fully stripped interior prioritizes performance, featuring a full roll cage, carbon-fibre Bride bucket seats with 6-point harnesses, and a Race Tech data display instead of standard gauges. Despite its raw, track-focused nature, it remains road legal with functional lights and wipers. This incredible car is now offered for sale at a fraction of the build cost. Ideal Carbs and Coffee show car or track day arrive and drive stunner.
